Calculating the PointsPlus Value of Alcoholic Beverages

It's that time of year again: summer parties, vacations, stay-cations, and just plain long weekends.  While we all want to imbibe our fair share of Festive Adult Beverages, knowing the PointsPlus Values of alcohol can be tricky.  Check out the algorithm below, so you can know before you go, and enjoy your FABs informed and guilt-free!
 
Example: SkinnyGirl Margarita, 25.4 Proof (12.7% alcohol by volume)

1.      Serving Size times Percentage of Alcohol:

         a.  1.5 oz x .127 (12.7%) = .1905 oz

2.      Convert ounces to grams by multiplying the number of   ounces by 28.35:

         a.  .1905 oz x 28.35 = 5.400675g

3.      Substitute the grams of alcohol for the grams of fat when computing PointsPlus:

         a.  Total Fat/Alcohol: 5.4g

         b.  Total Carbs: 1.43g

         c.  Total Fiber: 0g

         d.  Total Protein: .07g

         e.   PointsPlus Value per 1.5 oz - 2
