Weight Watchers is very excited to share with you that we will be an inaugural sponsor for a program called “America Cooks with Chefs: The 800 Calorie Challenge.” The James Beard Foundation and the Clinton Foundation came together to establish this program, which is designed to teach Americans how to cook better and more healthfully, and to tell that story in an entertaining, consumer-friendly format. We’re thrilled with how it aligns with our new mission to change people’s relationship with food for good.
The call for video entries kicked off on
Tuesday, August 12, and is open through September 3. Six contestants will be
selected and each will be paired with a James Beard Award-winning chef mentor
to learn tips and tricks to easier, healthier cooking, and a Weight Watchers
Leader to identify the behaviors they can adopt to develop a healthier overall
lifestyle. Their stories will be told through an online video series and, with
their knowledge and new skills in hand, the contestants will meet again at the
Clinton Health Matters Initiative Conference in January 2015 where they’ll
compete in a Live Cooking Challenge. A judging panel, which will include a
Weight Watchers representative, will select the winning dish.
This post is part of my effort to spread the word to members about the contest entry period. No professional culinary experience is needed – just the desire to learn how to cook better and more healthfully! Those interested can visit americacookswithchefs.com for more information and the full contest rules.
